Por Trás do Balcão is an original documentary series that dives into the heart of Rio de Janeiro’s botequins to reveal the stories of the people who keep these places alive every day: waiters, cooks, managers, and the anonymous characters who turn each bar into a living cultural landmark of the city.
In each episode, we follow a protagonist chosen for their deep connection to the place. Through routine, tradition, affection, and everyday encounters, the series builds an intimate portrait of bohemia as culture, work, and belonging.

More than a record of Rio, the project is a celebration of Brazilian identity and the symbolic value of botequins as spaces of collective memory.
